If you know anything about anything about Louisiana, the first thing you will know is that weird things happen there. I'm not just talking about your typical "bump in the night, oh my God, there's a ghost," kind of weird, either. I'm talking about "digging up graves to find the bones of the person you want to become so you can grind them up into a paste and eat them" kind of weird. I'm talking about "go find people who have powers that you want and then seduce them and murder them so you paint yourself in their blood and acquire the powers that you want" kind of weird. I'm talking about "the Compte du Saint Germain manifesting himself as a vampire and having masquerade balls" kind of weird. I could go on, but I think you get the picture, no? So, weird things happen in Louisiana. This piece comes from Louisiana and the process by which it was made is extremely weird as well. It is so weird, in fact, that it involved somebody getting the bones of Marie Laveau right from her Grave in the St. Louis Cemetary.

First of all, I don't know how they did that, because the cemetery is pretty well patrolled. I mean, there are ways around that, I'd be more concerned about the fact that they were probably cursed for even removing the bones in the first place. By they, I am referring to a group of swampers. This is what the people who live on the bayou are called. Most of them practice Voodoo, some of them don't, but they live a secluded life by the swamp. The ones that we got this piece from just happened to be part of the population that actually does Voodoo. Somehow or another they unearthed an ancient ritual that is supposed to allow one person to become any person of their choice. The downside? You need a fragment of their bone to boil a soup that the person who desires to become said person must drink. This is why they neede Marie's bones. Well, they just got one small bone, but you get what I'm saying. They needed to make a broth out of it so the person who was drinking it could be transformed into Marie Laveau.

Here's the crazy part. It actually worked. Look, I've seen some of those Voodoo people down South do some pretty crazy shenanigans to no avail. I mean, so of them are really smart, but there are others that are just really dumb. I'm not judging, it's just how things go down in the South. Either way, the bone broth worked. The group of swampers that made this soup had, prior to the making of the soup, drawn straws. The purpose of this was to decide who was the one that was going to become Marie Laveau's reincarnation. Now, at this point you are probably thinking, Oh, I bet they were just thrilled. Well, the moment was short lived and bittersweet, because the swampers were after something a little more permanent. This permanency required the person who drew the shortest straw to be the one that transformed and then immediately afterward served as a sacrifice. This way, the swampers could have Marie Laveau's heart.

So, when the sacrifice drank the bone broth, Marie Laveau's soul was split right down the middle. Half of it stayed where it was and the other half was set into the sacrifice's body. This new body actually BECAME a second form of Marie Laveau. It wasn't just a knowledge acquisition or something like that. The body actually became a resurrected version of Marie Laveau. See, I told you. Weird. Either way, once the sacrifice becomes Marie Leveau she was immediately killed. Her heart was taken out of her chest and was used in some other weird transference ceremony that actually made the piece that we offer the non-living heart of Marie Laveau because the sacrifice had become her. It's just really strange the way it all played out, but that's Voodoo. Either way, this piece is the relic they ended up making. I'm not going to get into the story of how we got this piece, because it gets long and messy. Just know that it wasn't easy and we are lucky to even have it.

This piece has been made with the energies and blood of Marie Laveau's own body. We can say this because the sacrifice was literally transformed into a second, carbon copy of Marie Laveau with all her knowledge and all of her essence. She was then sacrificed and her body was used to make this piece. This piece is called the Voodoo Spell Heart and that is because this heart, which is Marie Laveau's' heart, casts them for you. All you have to do is hold the heart in your hand and state out loud what Voodoo spell you want to be cast. The piece is in the shape of an actual anatomical heart and it is a pendant. This is because when you are casting your Voodoo spells, you will place a personal effect of the person who you are casting the spell upon. It could be a part of said person's body such as a hair or a finger fail clipping, or it could simply be a picture of that person. If you are casting the spell upon yourself (for wealth, love, healing, or something else), it will be pretty easy. Just remember, this piece is not just a connection to Marie Laveau, it is part of Marie Leveau. It is a physical manifestation of her actual heart that will cast Voodoo magic on your behalf. If you are into Voodoo magic then this is a rare find and great treat. Even if you aren't necessarily into Voodoo, this is still a powerful piece to have because it will literally cast any spell that you want to cast. All you have to do is call it out.

While you aren't using this piece to cast voodoo spells, you can wear it on a pendant as a pretty awesome looking pendant.
