Currently, there are only 5 people who practice dowsing the dead. Dowsing the dead is a life path and work choice. You have to go to school for it and your school is the family member who does it. You start learning around 1 year old when you can still see the spirits and your blinders haven't been placed on to cut that part of your soul off.
Here is a good way to look at it. Do you know when your potty training your child? Then one day it is done and for the rest of their life, they use the bathroom. It just comes as second nature. That is how these people are taught. It is just second nature because to them they have been doing it all their lives. They are good, they are the best and it is all they do.
With only 5 of these people in existence right now you rarely get a piece they make. They can make this power go into anything, junk or jewels, it doesn't really matter. Prices are extremely high for these pieces even if they are not worth much in the material. The reason for this is because it is work but the work costs money. The person doing the dowsing has to travel all over the world even to places where a normal cemetery doesn't exist. This always leads to doing many of the countries in Africa and Europe. They don't stop there but go all over the world. It's not just the travel that is expensive and they do have to pay for it, how else can they travel? There is danger and it is only them who say they know where the true garden of Eden is. They go there as well and all have reported they believe it is the real place. They say as they get to it evil breaks out and all kinds of things happen to them in order to prevent them from using that land to call up spirits of the originals.
It is the spirits of the Originals that are sought out the most for these junk or jewels. They hold the most secrets to the strongest magic. Then the dowsers make their way all over to the resting places of the powerful and dead. The knowledge, energy, and magic are placed in these pieces.

That is pretty much how this works.
