ORIGINS / Unknown
Shadows form in our ghostly past;
Ho! ho! Young Man, ho! ho!
From forgotten graves they will rise at last;
It is so, young man, it is so!
Youth is swift and youth can flee;
Ho! ho! young man, ho! ho!
Old age, too, is pursuing thee;
It is so, young man, it is so!
You may run, you may dodge, you may twist, you may bed,
The flying phantoms win in the end;
Ho! ho! old man, ho! ho!
Your signature is more than just a name that you scrawl as messily as possible to seal deals or finalize this and that. All signatures are different. Have you ever wondered what exactly causes a signature to take its shape? Why is yours neater or messier than others? What causes a signature to appear elegant or ugly? Why did your particular signature turn out to look as it does?
Signatures hardly emulate exactly what any person's handwriting looks like. Handwriting and signatures are two different things. A person's signature is unique and individualized with a style separate to any other writing style. Any human can be identified by their writing because, similar to a fingerprint, no person writes exactly the same as the next. They may appear similar but they are not. Handwriting can be imitated but not replicated. Similarly to fingerprints and DNA, the very way you write is specific to your being and it emulates who you are as a person. It is why certain forms of magic call for the use of it.
This book is empowered with an example of this form of magic. It is filled with names from cover to cover of people who have gained immortality.
These people belonged to the Club of Immortality, which used the likes of this book to create immortality for themselves. This book has been used to grant immortality among the members of this club, some of the members of which remain alive today. It is unknown who the majority of these people have come to be now but we do know that some of them are still alive and we know some of them that will be added into the book soon.
For example, there is Dick Cheney who you likely expect to die very soon. This will not actually be happening. In the near future, he will likely look as though he has passed away but he has not. His body will, but he himself will not. He will take on another body with another name, through which he will continue to live. When that body withers and no longer has much use, he will repeat this process as he and many others have done thousands of times over the years before him.
Betty Davis is a part of this group. She is not due to renew her body in the near future because she has lived within her current body for the last 27 years. She has time left but we know that she will likely change bodies once again in the future when the time is near. This will be the second shift since the first in 1989.
In order to grant yourself immortality, you must write your name on the last page of this book using a fountain pen. You write your signature as you would normally. While the ink is still wet, you fold the page in half and run your finger along the crease. Allow the ink a moment or two to bleed across the page before opening it. What you will see will be the imprint of your being across dimensions, the part of you that never actually dies but is recycled and reborn over and over again. By placing it among the pages of the The Ghosts of My Friends, you call your spirit forward and away from the natural order, which usually leads to birth, growth and then death, which is why most people do not remember their past lives.
With access to your own spiritual being, you gain the ability to replenish your current life. In other words, you become immortal. You can choose to take the form of another body at any time, you do not need to wait until you are dying or dead, within which you will not forget anything because you are not being reborn, you are merely continuing to live. All of your current power and or knowledge will be carried over with you because power and knowledge itself is soulbound.
It is important to keep in mind that this book has many options for how you are granted your immortality, which we encourage you to think about thoroughly before making your decision.
The dates are marked for the time in which each individual person claimed their immortality but it is given in different forms. For some, the immortality goes by generation and is specific to the soul. As long as these individuals transfer their soul into a new body each time the previous one becomes inferior, they will live forever. In order to cancel their immortality, they only needed to allow the vessel to die. This options is typically for those who want to experience different walks of life.
However, there is a form of immortality that does not require maintenance. This form is complete. If you do not wish to take on a different appearance, you can keep your current appearance and preserve your body in its current and original vessel. You will not age and you will not die but you will need to move around every now and then to avoid the notice of those around you.
It is also important to keep in mind that, while you will become immortal, those around you will not. For as long as you are immortal, you do not age and you will watch those around you be affected by time. The ultimate sacrifice that immortality demands is essentially that you outlast anyone and anything around you. However, as heavy as a burden as that may seem to bear, you may can cancel your immortality at any time by writing your name again on the back of the same page you used and folding it in the opposite way. You repeat the same process before except, once the ink has bled, you must rip the page from the book and burn it, thus concluding your immortality and returning you back to mortal progression and aging.
